What To Expect

Team Formation

Build your dream team or join one! We offer flexible team formation options:

  • Register as a team of 1, 2, 3, or 4 members.

  • If you register with fewer than 4 people, we may combine team smaller teams to create complete teams of 4, depending on number of signups.

Prizes & Recognition

Your hard work and creativity will be rewarded! We'll be awarding:

  • $150 prizes to the most interesting findings.

  • Recognition for outstanding innovation and execution.

  • Promising findings may be accepted in the the Ludlow Grants program, with the possibility of up to $10k in addition funding for continued research.

Priority Registration

In the even of high demand:

  • Completion of our our aptitude test on the Sphere platform is encouraged, for priority acceptance.

  • Early registration is strongly encouraged.

  • Those who register by October 4th will receive a special gift

  • Final registration deadline: October 15.

  • Registrants with receive a confirmation email with details of the event.

Recommended Skills

The following skills are recommended, but not required.

The more a participant brings, the more productive the hackathon will be:

  • Quickly program in a scripting language such as Python

  • Run Linux natively or in a VM

  • Comfort with the Linux command line

  • Visualize and analyze network traffic (Wireshark, tshark)

  • Analyze and visualize data

  • Experience with Jupyter notebooks

  • Ability to solve the SPHERE IoT testbed introductory exercise
